Part I: design on a budget – living room

lately i’ve been thinking about decorating on a budget, most likely due to the limited budget that billy and i are living on right now.  there are wonderful benefits to building your own business, but one of the disadvantages is the lack of income in the beginning.  Any the money you do make goes right back into the company.

so…i thought, what better way to design on a budget than to buy everything off ebay and craigslist.  i thought i’d start with a living room.

here’s the plan…

rustic elegance_edited-1

and here’s the breakdown…

this accent table from ebay for $99

this vintage cart used as a coffee table from ebay for $49

this pair of side tables from atlanta’s craigslist for $95

and this pair of vintage lamps on top of those side tables from ebay for $50

this pottery barn style sofa from chicago’s craigslist for $69

image

this crate and barrel leather wingback chair from nashville’s craigslist for $550

this gorgeous chair from atlanta’s craiglist for $140

these burlap drapes from nashville’s craigslist for $100

this jute rug from new york city’s craigslist for $135

collage of architectural prints from ebay for $9.99 each

a few accessories from ebay ranging from $39 - $129(click on the individual accessory to go to the direct link)

Uttermost Set Of Two Ketan FinialsUttermost Set of Four Sidra Boxes

Uttermost Water Hyacinth And Seagrass Basket Set

and you can have all this for a grand total of $1700.  that’s a whole living room for less than $2000.  you can barely get a sofa for that these days.  i didn’t take into account shipping for some of these larger items, but if you wanted to save on shipping charges you could try to locate the larger pieces on the craigslist in your own area.
