today’s the first day of my annual labor day girls’ trip. all of my girl friends from college started doing a trip on labor day after we graduated and luckily it stuck. we go to a different city every year. this year we decided on washington, dc. i’ll be the first to arrive there around 9 this evening, and then all of the other 6 girls will trickle in. i just checked the weather and it looks like it will be AMAZING. low 80’s during the day and mid-60’s at night. and sunny, sunny, sunny. what a perfect way to kick off the fall!
we’re going to do some typical tourist site-seeing like visit the capitol, walk through the mall and go to the smithsonian. since it’s a girl’s trip shopping will definitely be involved. i’m looking forward to hitting some of the design boutiques there too. i’ve been researching which ones to visit and i’ve found the best listing on design*sponge’s city guide.
Here are some of the stores i’m anxious to get to see.
sixteen fifty nine – shop specializing in classic mid-century modern furniture, lighting, art, ceramics, glass, and decorative objects. located in historic georgetown.
homebody – specializing in products for the home and body that are superbly designed, practical, and unique. they continuously refresh inventory and product lines, which include many items you won't find anywhere else in dc.
and beige – the store i’m most excited about. look at these gorgeous pics from their website. and beige carries an eclectic and unique collection of furniture, home accessories and found objects that emphasize texture, pattern and natural design elements to embrace the beauty, sophistication and simplicity of a neutral palette.
gotta go pack now. i’ll be back monday. see you then. hope everyone has a fabulous labor day weekend.
